We are a Sydney based, fully integrated, financial services provider serving as wealth advisors, mortgage brokers, and budgeting coaches. We are passionate about building long-term relationships, understanding our clients’ financial and lifestyle objectives, and providing initial and ongoing pathways for clients to achieve their financial hopes and dreams. We are also passionate about maximising our clients' lifestyle, so we prioritise our clients' time and convenience.

Our team has over 33 years of experience in the financial services industry. This means we have spent a lot of time perfecting our craft of helping clients get from where they are to where they want to be. We are skilled in identifying and effectively using a range of tools and services relevant to your life stage, circumstances, and goals to help you realise financial freedom and protect what you are building. In practice, this means we help our clients with financial structuring and budgeting, purchasing property (from first homes through to investment properties), structuring superannuation and taxes to optimise cash-flow and savings, protecting their family’s financial future with insurance where needed, and planning for (and transitioning to) retirement.

We strongly believe that we have an obligation to educate our clients, and through education and expert advice, we help our clients take control of their finances and thrive. Our goal is always to help our clients enjoy the present while securing their comfortable and well deserved retirement.

Roger Wheelahan

Roger has 18 years experience in the financial services industry, including holding senior management positions for various high profile financial institutions within the financial planning and mortgage industry. He has completed the Diploma of Financial Planning, Diploma of Financial Advice, and Advanced Diploma of Financial Planning, as well as specialist education in Self-Managed Superannuation advice, and is registered with The Tax Practitioners Board (TPB). He is the Managing Director of Smart Start Financial Services and joined the Chaucer Group in 2018.

Roger's passion is meeting and building relationships with clients to help guide them along the road to long-term financial success. Roger's experience can be divided into two broad categories - individual and business clients. Throughout his career, Roger has successfully assisted business clients from sole traders through to SMEs. With his individual clients, Roger's experience spans pre and post-retirement planning, complex insurance estate planning consideration, tax planning, redundancy, personal protection, social security, Self-Managed Superannuation, and budgeting and managing debts.

With all of his clients, Roger has focused on goal setting, sophisticated planning and structuring, and guiding his clients through the ever changing regulatory and economic landscape. Central to his philosophy, is the imperative to educate clients about their options, obligations, and opportunities so they are in a position to make truly informed and savvy financial decisions.

At Chaucer Group, Roger is authorised to advise on, and deal, in cash and term deposits, debentures, stocks and bonds, business and personal risk insurance products, managed investment schemes, superannuation, margin lending, and retirement income streams.
